ANTIQUE PERSIAN KERMANSHAH HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 4' 3 1/2'' x 7': This antique rug has a beautiful traditional design consisting of a ''tree of life'' growing up out of a large vase on a stand. The red and black colored vase and plinth are in dramatic contrast to the white field of the rug. The branches of the tree have various flowers growing out to the side and also to the top of the rug where the corners of the field are rounded to give the effect of an arbor over the scene. Hidden in the branches of the tree are pairs of different birds, the pairs facing each other from each side of the rug. The colors used to color the leaves, branches, birds, and flowers, are soft rose burgundy, pale turquoise blue, and yellow beige. At the base of the rug are found two pairs of bunnies hopping to the center of the rug. They are a symbol of married bliss and fertility. The main border of the rug has the rich burgundy ground and it is flanked by guard borders in the pale turquoise blue. This collectors piece would make a dramatic statement in the entryway of your home.
CONDITION: Some wear is visible but doesn't detract from the beauty of the rug.
