1862 MODEL 1850 COLLINS FOOT OFFICERS SWORD: Presentation quality Model 1850 foot officers sword manufactured by Collins & Co., Hartford and dated 1862, no inspector marks. Retailed by G.W. Simons Brothers, Philadelphia. Brass hilt with extra fancy embellishments on pommel, original rayskin wrap and wire. 31'' blade with etched US, eagle, motto, shield and foliate motifs. Original complete leather scabbard with brass mounts. Overall 38'' long.
CONDITION: Spots of age discoloration and missing very tip of blade, flaking and loss of leather to scabbard, break to stitching. Loss of gilt to scabbard mounts, top mount loose. Wear to ray skin on grip.
