ANTIQUE PERSIAN ''VASE'' CARPET, 11' 7'' x 20' 7'': This fabulous, unusually colored rug is a rare find, not only because of its palatial size, but especially because of its beautifully drawn rendition of a ''Vase'' carpet design. These rugs are usually found with a red color ground but this rug has a pale cream ground that is covered with very large palmettes, flower heads, and vases in colors of a good clear yellow, pink, black, pale and medium blue, aqua, brown, and beige. There are vines with small flowers that attach the larger motifs and also fill in the field. The juxtaposition of the colors makes the design even more dramatic and bold. The main border continues this effect with the yellow, pink, and black framing the field. This is a rare and beautiful rug that would be a treasured addition to any home.
CONDITION: There is some ''fuzzing'' on the back of the rug in some areas but it doesn't affect the front of the rug. Also the ends have been re-fringed.
