COLT MODEL 1861 SPECIAL MUSKET WITH INLAY: 40'' .58 caliber round barrel, single shot percussion rifle with walnut full stock. Marked with typical Colt markings on lockplate and dated 1863, double inspector cartouche left side stock, stamp US top of butt plate. 2 unusual mother of pearl inlays, added after the war, one right side stock with plaque reading Souvenir, the other top of stock with shield. Barrel marked Steel with inspector's marks. Overall 56 1/4'' long.
