APPROX 20-35 YR OLD PERSIAN NAIN HAND KNOTTED WOOL AND SILK RUG, 10' 6'' X 16' 2 1/2'': This lovely palace sized carpet has a beautifully executed traditional curvilinear design with a small round central medallion in shades of blue resting on a white field that is covered with vines , leaves, and floral motifs. Around the field is a wide band of blue leading into blue grounded corners. The wide white ground of the main border and the small guard borders complete the picture. This rug is very finely knotted and even has silk highlights here and there throughout the rug. This type of rug was highly prized and very expensive in the not too distant past.
CONDITION: There is some surface soil as well as two small tears, 1/2'' & 1'', in the white main border that are repairable.
