THREE PIECE COPPER ENGRAVING LOT: From the 1997 Early American History Auctions catalog: ''1) The Siege of Orleans Illustrated News Broadsheet from the French Religious Wars of the 16th Century Engraving, dated 1563, this illustrates the siege of the City of Orleans, France during the month of January of that year, 15'' x 20''. This news broadside has a keyed index at the bottom referring to people and places that are illustrated in the engraving. The engraving illustrates the Catholic army led by the Duke of Guise besieging the Huguenot City of Orleans. The Duke was assassinated during the siege on February 18, 1563 by Jean Poltrot, a Huguenot. This contemporary engraving has all of the elements of a 16th Century siege; a walled City, a moat, siege cannons'' ; 2) Plan of Cardona Copper Engraving; 17'' x 20 3/4'' 3) City of Namur Copper Engraving, 17'' x 20 3/4''.
