
MARTIN, Fletcher, (American, 1904-1979): Nude Drawing, 1946, inscribed to a ''Reeves'', sight size 19.5'' x 14.5'', modern chrome frame 20.25'' x 15.25''. Growing up in a small western town in California, Martin drew inspiration from circus posters and local amateur painters. Under the tutelage of Mexican painter David Alfaro Siqueiros, he went on to begin painting murals at local federal buildings, which commonly portrayed the strife and dangers of the local mining industries.
