373 | DAYAK PARANG OR MANDAU HEADHUNTERS KNIFE: From Borneo. Name meaning ''double knife'' because it has 2 blades: the main sword and a small knife (missing) that fits in the back of the sheath. The hilt to blade tip measures 20 1/4''. The blade is in good condition, sharp with no signs of abuse, concave on one side, convex on the other. Finely carved wooden handle with braided wire wrapping with multiple shanks of hair. The sheath is made of palm fiber and intricately carved wood. It has dyed goat hair and plain white animal hair, feathers and carving as decoration on the lower end of the sheath. Borneo is a large island in Southeast Asia that comprises Malaysia, Indonesia, and the sultanate of Brunei. Overall length 31'' | 350 | |
