1015 Click for larger picture KOSSAK, Jerzy, (Polish, 1886-1955): ''Charge'', ''Szarza'', Depicts Soldiers on Horseback Invading a City in The Winter, Unstretched Oil/Canvas, 37'' x 55'' painted surface, signed lower right, dated 1922. The finished picture of nearly the exact scene was sold at Christies in 2009, dated 1924. Jerzy was the third generation of well respected artists. He specialized in military scenes with the famed Uhlan soldiers on horseback. Provenance; acquired from artist by great grandparents in Warsaw, Poland, given to grandparents, inherited by current owner, the great granddaughter.
CONDITION: Has been rolled, scattered flecking and loss, abrasions, needs cleaning, sold as is.

Picard (Henri Picard, French 1840-1890) and stamped 1064 in several locations. 2 figural seated maidens sit either side of floral urn center dripping with blooms, one maiden holding a staff with key to movement on end, the holding a partial staff, shaped base with 6 feet. Enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, time and strike movement marked with Raingo Freres medallion. Overall measures approx. 27'' h. x 28'' x 8 1/2''.
CONDITION: Small chip to dial at left keyhole, maidens with a differing patina, one of the maidens staffs has broken. Currently running however not guaranteed to continue. Keys, pendulum and bell in office.

1023 Click for larger picture PISSARRO, Paul-Emile, (French, 1884-1972): ''Paysage Normand'', Oil/Canvas, 29'' x 36.5'', signed lower right, fine contemporary frame, 40'' x 47.5''. Original receipt available showing a purchase price of $21,000 in 1996 from Galerie Adrienne in San Francisco, CA. Paulemile as he preferred to be called, was the youngest brother of Camille Pissarro. He is known for his landscape paintings.
CONDITION: Probably could use re-stretch, frame shows minor wear, small puncture in mid right half center of painting.

1024 Click for larger picture GUILLAUMIN, Jean Baptiste Armond, (French, 1841-1927): ''Bords de Riviera'', Oil/Canvas, 13.5'' x 28.5'', signed lower right, contemporary custom frame, 20.25'' x 35.5''. Several earlier labels affixed verso. Guillaumin was a founding member of the group we now recognize to be the Impressionists including Monet, Pissarro, Renoir, Sisley, Degas, Cezanne and Morisot. He became lifelong friends with Cezanne and Pissarro. He is remembered for his landscapes of Paris and his pieces can be found in major museums around the world.
CONDITION: Relined, minor craquelure, sold as is.

Over the top gilt bronze mounts to include rams heads, center masqueron, vignettes in medallions, foliate and floral scrolls. Shaped marble top and front, parquetry inlaid fruit wood. 2 locking doors open to reveal 2 drawers either side. Overall measures 37 3/4'' h. x 70 3/4'' x 25 1/2''.
CONDITION: Repair to marble top, slight imperfections to veneer on right side.

Although Dubois' family wanted Paul to become a lawyer, he chose to study at the atelier of Armand Toussaint at the cole Nationale des Beaux-Arts to become an artist. He was awarded several honors and positions of honor and was decorated with the Grand Croix (Grand Cross) of the Lgion d'honneur. 950

Signed Atsuyoshi saku and bears the Maruki Company Seal. The Maruki Company in Nihonbashiku, Tokyo, produced some of the finest works of art in ivory and bronze during the Meiji period, commissioning many skillful artists such as Atsuyoshi and exhibited at the domestic and international exhibitions. 4250

After his father's death, Pettenkoffen lived with his cousin and became a student at the Academy of Fine art. He studied under Leopold Kupelwieser and Franz Eybl. He painted his genre pieces in typical Biedermeier style.

1044 Click for larger picture PRINS, Pierre, (1838-1913): ''Sent de Bris-Tete Cros-Rouvres 1886'', pastel, 7'' x 9.75'', signed lower right, original handwriting on the board visible verso along with typed catalog label and artist signature, gilded gesso frame, 16'' x 18''. Prinz was close friends with several of the Impressionists, such as Manet, Sisley and Bazille, but preferred not to take part in the artistic debates of the period. Although there are hints of Impressionism in his pieces, his style remained distinctively his own. Inspired by Manet, Prins began to work almost exclusively in pastels. As he was dying, Prins asked his heirs not to exhibit his work, nor to release work from his studio, for thirty years after his death. His work remained almost completely unknown for much of the period when that of his contemporaries rose to new heights. His paintings, pastels and drawings became better known after a retrospective exhibition at the Galerie Durand-Ruel in Paris in 1963. 1000

1046 Click for larger picture TOUDOUZE, Edouard, (French, 1848-1907): Milk Maid and Young Inspector, Watercolor, 20'' x 10.75'', signed in lower margin, unframed. Toudouze was born into a family that was very involved in art. He became a successful artist at a very young age. Many of his works can now be found in the Musee des Beaux-Arts in Rennes, France.
CONDITION: Glued down to back cardboard panel, overall toning and fading, several spots of foxing. Sold as is.
