Goya took his earliest art lessons from his father, who was a master gilder. As he became famous he was one of several artists who had an influence on French Romantic painters. He also studied etching with monks and eventually went to Madrid, where he was influenced by Giovanni Tiepolo, who did lighthearted historical genre scenes. 1341 | TARKAY, Itzchak Isaac (Yugoslav, 1935-2012): ''III Women'' Serigraph, 27.75'' x 38.75'' with margins, signed lower right, numbered lower left 47/250, framed, 40'' x 51.5''. At the age of nine, Tarkay was sent to a Nazi concentration camp. After his release, he developed an interest in art. He and his family moved to Israel in 1949 and in 1951 he started studying art on scholarship until financial restrictions required him to leave school. Eventually he graduated from the Avni Institute of Art. Tarkay has exhibited extensively and his works can be found in many public and private collections. CONDITION: Some scattered foxing in the margins with some tape glue residue and browning. Needs to be remounted, frame shows wear, sold as is. |
