This is a powerful mask which only initiated people can wear. 2nd part 20th century. Length 32'' by 9'' tall. With stand, 36''.
CONDITION: Normal wear. One mask missing stand.

It was placed at the entrance of the village to welcome travelers, and to protect the village from disease and bad spirits. This bird is from the area of Boundiali. Approx. 80'' h x 27'' l x 20'' w. 1100

A single piece of carved Lingue wood raised on 4 tapered legs with a slanted turtle head rest. Hard to find small bed was used by a chief's or notable's child - carved of Lingue wood. 38'' l x 7'' h x 12'' w. Senufo tribe are from the Ivory Coast. 500
1441 Click for larger picture ANTIQUE AFRICAN CARVED WOODEN LIDDED MEDICINE BOWL: From the Senufo Tribe / Ivory Coast, this rare medicine pot was found in the Korhogo area in 1969. It was carved by Yeo Dramane - famous sculptor of the ''Poro'' in the 1940s. Unusual pot features an elephant base carrying a large, decorated pot with mythical creatures and personages from the Senufo cosmogony. The lid features 2 Kpelie protector masks and a Wambele mask. Measures approx 48'' h x 22'' w. Circa 1940.
CONDITION: Some losses to elephant foot.

CONDITION: A few with foxing and stuck to wax paper.

1450 Click for larger picture 2 AFRICAN HUT DOORS SENUFO TRIBE, IVORY COAST: Similar hut doors feature the traditional design of the Senufo cosmogony. The cross in the middle of the door represents the belly button, the center of life. Carved figures on one door are painted, Kapok wood doors measures 67'' h x 24'' w.
CONDITION: Some loss of trim above the center panel on the unpainted door and some minor nicks in top center turtle's back. Both doors show normal wear.
