Three appear to be outside scenes with perhaps scholars and their acolytes, or suitors approaching young ladies. Regardless, each painting is exquisitely detailed. Each of these exceptional plaques has three (3) vertical lines of calligraphy and two (2) red seals on the upper portion of the plaque. The plaques are centered within a faded gold gilded oval wooden frame held by four bats inside the frame's center elongated central rectangle. Bats typically represent good fortune. Above and below each porcelain plaque are finely carved wooden scenes perhaps depicting elders or deities. All have appropriate bronze hangers. Overall approx. 36.5'' h x 12.75'' w. Plaques Approx. 17.5'' h x 9.5'' w.
