354 Click for larger picture 19TH CENTURY AMERICAN INDIAN CARVED TREE ROOT WAR CLUB: Approximately 18'' length, carved and painted, handle has sun, star and moon incised along what appears to be a turtle decoration, several portions of the tree root are carved into animal heads. There is some missing paint from this portion. 225

Hopkin is well noted for his marine scenes, but this is a rare example of a Native American figure painting. Condition - Good Overall, signature is faint, but legible. 950
