WENDING, Erwin, (American, 1900-1993): Modernist Tabletop Floral Still Life, Oil/Canvas, 26'' x 20'', signed lower left, period painted barnwood frame, 37'' x 30 1/2''. Born in Freiberg. In 1937, following the completion of his studies at the Dresden Art Academy, he immigrated to the Land of Israel. In 1939, he traveled to Paris to study at the Ecole des Beaux Arts. Following the German occupation in June 1940, he fled to London, where he received a grant to study at the St. Martin's School of Art. In 1947, he immigrated to New York.
