SEMI-ANTIQUE CAUCASIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 5'4'' x 8'3'': This attractive and interesting rug has a field that is as filled with designs as any rug could be. There is a square central medallion, ivory background, with two large red double ram's horn motifs on either side of smaller double ram's horns in red squares. The sides of the medallion have long candy striped latch hooks that are mirrored by latch hooks from the side of the field. on either end of the central medallion are two red ground medallions that are much wider than the central square. Filling in the field are various sized squares and medallions with varying motifs as well as rows of flower heads on each side of the field. There is a band at either end of the field that looks like the top of a prayer rug niche. CONDITION: Condition is mostly good but there is a part of the outside border missing on one end. |
