4 OF 15 NORMAN ROCKWELL SUITE SIGNED PRINTS: 4 iconic prints from the Saturday Evening Post covers, each hand signed by Norman Rockwell, to include ''Before and After'', ''Tough Call'', ''Weighing In'', and ''Only Skin Deep''. From the title page of portfolio, ''In 1943 a fire in Norman Rockwell's studio destroyed many of his original paintings, and over the years many other Rockwell paintings have simply disappeared. In the process of selecting the subjects for the present portfolio it became evident that some of the lost pictures were absolutely essential, in order to have a characteristic variety of the artist's work. We therefore decided to make our reproduction directly from the Saturday Evening Post covers for which the paintings were originally commissioned (and where they first appeared). It turned out that some of these covers are now extremely rare, and it was largely through Mr. Rockwell's efforts that several of the most important illustrations in this portfolio were located and can be included here. All prints copyright The Curtis Publishing Company. Standard Book Number: 8109-6850-9 Harry N. Abrams, Incorporated, New York. Printed in Japan''. Each print 25'' x 19''. | 750 |
