CONDITION: Frame has wear to gold gilt and slight separation at corners.

CONDITION: 1) Head separates from body, chips and craquelure to paint. 2) Evidence of prior wood worm damage to base, separates from base, again missing left arm.

1325 Click for larger picture APPROX. 15-25 YR. OLD AFGHAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 3'4'' x 4'9'': This rug has a look of Turkish rugs in its colors and design. The ivory center has a tracery design in reds and blues and feather like edging up and down both sides of the field. Multiple small borders including running dog design ones are also done in reds and blues. Condition is good with some color variance in ivory field. 100
1326 Click for larger picture APPROX 15-25 YR. OLD AFGHAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 3'6'' x 5': This rug has a narrow inner ivory field surrounded by a pretty blue outer field. Both parts of the field have a repeating tracery design that are highly stylized plants or trees. There are ''running dog'' borders on either side of a main border that has a diamond within a diamond design.
CONDITION: There are some stains or color runs visible in the ivory field.

From the 2005 St. Louis Steedman exhibit notes, ''This title page reflects the disappearance of the name of the Irish aristocrat the Earl of Charlemont as dedicatee. Piranesi was angry with the Earl for failing to subsidize the first publication of this work as promised, and erased his name from all subsequent editions.'' Plate size 18 1/2'' x 27'', framed and matted 26 3/4'' x 34 1/2''. Actual publication date unknown.
