The overall soft pastel colors used combined with the delicacy of the motifs renderings makes this an appealing, luscious rug. The central medallion combines pale peach, pink, pistachio green, and grey-blue and rests on a pale yellow field. The delicate vines and tendrils that link the other patterns are done in a pale grey-blue. They also help to delineate the added panels of pink, turquoise, and white that edge the main field. The main border has the same colors found in the central medallion. CONDITION: Condition is good. There is some abrash or color change in the pale yellow field that isn't objectionable. The corners of the field are the same red as the medallion. They and the rest of the field are covered with a profusion of individual flowers and palmettes surrounded by sprays of flowers. APPROX.70-90 YR OLD NATIVE AMERICAN NAVAJO HAND WOVEN WOOL RUG/ BLANKET, 4'1'' X 6'7'': This nice old Navajo has a design that consists of a gridwork of diamonds with serrated edges on a natural color ivory field. The outline of the diamonds is done in brown, tan, and red. Cross motifs both large and small are found in the centers of the diamonds. There are brown and red borders at each end but not on the sides. Two shades of red were used in making this rug and there is also some fading that accounts for the varying shades. CONDITION: Some fading, some soil/spots, and some breaks on the edge and one place in the field but still a good looking rug. |

Cross is embedded with glass micro mosaic decoration and the ends of the cross are clover shaped. Each features a scene of the four different religious Papal Basilicas St. Peter, St. John Lateran, Santa Maria Maggiore and St. Paul in the Vatican and Rome. In the middle of the Crucifix is IHS surrounded by flowers and set in a red background. This is a fine example of micro mosaic craftsmanship constructed with fine glass tesserae mosaic pieces.
