RARE 12 RED ROYAL DOULTON BURSLEM DINNER PLATES: Elegant set of twelve Doulton Burslem (Royal Doulton) plates c.1891-1902, retailed by Davis Collamore & Co. The borders are deep red with an ornate raised paste, gilded design of floral vines and scrolls. This lovely shade of red is deep and rich. The centers are white with gold medallion and border. The back of 10 plates carries the Doulton Burslem mark for 1891-1902 and 2 others have the mark for 1902-1922. Measures 10.5'' in diameter. 4 plates are signed RA and 7 are signed RA followed by a number. The artist Robert Allen (RA), was responsible for decorating much of the Burslem ornamental ware by Doulton. 1 plate is signed HB for Herbert Betteley who specialized in painting intricate gold patterns. CONDITION: Plates show normal wear in the gold trim and in the plate overall. |
