LOT OF 12 RARE EARLY 1900'S BEATRIX POTTER BOOKS, ALL PUBLISHED BY F. WARNE & CO.: These are notoriously hard to date specify, but 9 are pre 1919 as the ''Ltd'' after Warne & Co. is NOT present - those are dated 1903 (2), 1904 (1), 1905 (2), 1906 (1), 1909 (2), and 1918 (1) and have the New York address on the title page. Other 3 do have the ''Ltd'' but are obviously not much later than 1919. CONDITION: There are conditions issues, with 11 of them having brown leather tape over the binding, and 8 of them also have tape on the inside endpapers. The covers are completely detached on 2 of them, and there are several loose pages. One of the Gloucester books is missing the frontispiece. Most pages are all intact and clean and all other color illustrations seem to be present. A few have the previous owners name written inside, but no other writing in the books. |
