Rogers began his fine art career as a highly successful illustrator on the East Coast working on projects for national magazines and book publishers such as Simon and Schuster, Readers Digest, Good Housekeeping, McCalls, Ladies Home Journal and Cosmopolitan. In the late seventies he gave up illustration to pursue a career in fine art. He had immediate success with his western paintings and began to create bronze sculptures of female forms.
