Original Longboat Key Art Center label verso, dated 3/29/76. Also a scene with a house and figure painted verso, but whited out. Historic Cortez Fishing village area in Manatee Co, Florida is the scene here, one that Stark was known to paint frequently, as he wintered in Florida, and taught at the Longboat Key Art Center.
CONDITION: Several minor abrasions upper right corner, could use cleaning.

1224 Click for larger picture APPROX 35-45 YR OLD PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 8'4'' x 11'5'': This rug has an overall design that has been used in the Tabriz area but it isn't the very fine knotting that is found on most rugs from that area. However, the design is very well executed to make this a lively and interesting rug that would add to the beauty of any home. There is a blue ground central medallion with a red and white center and accents of greens, pink, beige, and peach that lies on a red field. Sprays of flowers and leaves radiate out from the medallion done in the same colors. The corners of the field are composed of bands of patterns; flower-heads, X's, barber pole stripes; on backgrounds of white, blue, yellow, etc. that add to the charm of this rug. 1239 Click for larger picture APPROX 40-50 YR OLD PAKISTANI BOKHARA HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 4' 4'' x 6' 9'': This rug has an interesting variance of the traditional Bokhara patterns using alternating ''guls''. In this rug they are separated and enhanced by horizontal bands attached to one ''gul'' motif all in colors of pale yellow, black, and beige. The other ''gul'' is also in these same colors resting on a salmon red field. The multiple guard borders and main border are done in the same colors as the ''guls''. Condition is good. 250
