1004 Click for larger picture APPROX 35-50 YR OLD PERSIAIN HERIZ HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 8'4'' x 11'2'': This is another Heriz with a traditional design that includes a large central medallion within a medallion with a bold geometric shape and colors. The colors used include salmon, pale peach, olive green, black, white, and grey/blue. These rugs continue to be a favorite of decorators.
CONDITION: There is some fading, some slight stains, and wear.

1005 Click for larger picture HAND WRITTEN LETTER FROM CLAUDE MONET TO LUCIEN PISSARRO: 4-page letter written from Claude Monet to Lucien Pissarro in 1917 when Pissarro was living in Salisbury, England. We are currently trying to get the letter transcribed, as the ink has degraded slight and Monet was notorious for his difficult to read writing. Framed in a clear double glass frame, the letter opened measures 10'' x 8'', sold with the original mailing envelope with Monet's writing on the front and a care of address in different writing on back. Frame measures 13 1/4'' x 16 1/4''.
CONDITION: Foxing, toning, some ink degradation.

1027 Click for larger picture APPROX 25-50 YR OLD PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG 8.8'' X 11.10'': This lovely rug has just the right combination of colors and execution of design to make it an outstanding example of the weaver's art. The medium blue and ivory diamond shaped central medallion with spandrels rests on a brick red field. Ivory, blue, and peach flowers were carefully placed around the field. The ivory and medium blue colored corners blend with the same colored borders of the rug to create an attractive light colored frame for the center field.

The corners of the field have a partial repeat of the center medallion with a white edge. The rest of the main field has serrated leaves and the large spandrels from the center medallion. These rugs have a vibrant tribal feel that has long been popular with decorators. 900

There are three diamond shaped medallions going across the center of the field and three elongated medallions at either end of the field. These motifs all have the same colors (pale blue, rust, white, black, and beige) and design that link them. In between these medallions are swirling, art nouveau style vines, leaves, and flowers with birds almost hidden in the midst of them. The rust colored main border frames the dark blue field and helps to complete the design.

This definitely took the weaver out of their dull desert-like every day setting! The ''medallion '' of this rug consists of a small center octagon shaped medallion in pink, red, and blue, that Is surrounded by birds and flowers in an outlined pink and blue diamond with spandrels. The rest of the field is covered with other examples of flowers, all pretty primitive in their composition. The white guard borders and blue main border complete this wild and crazy rug.

1239A Click for larger picture APPROX 25-50 YR OLD TURKISH YAGCIBEDIR HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUGS: This trio of Turkish rugs measure approx 2'7'' x 4'4'', 2.7'' x 4'5'', and 2'6'' x 8'9'', are woven in Yagcibedir have motifs that are usually seen in rugs from the Turkestan region but in the traditional colors of weaving from their area. The diamond shaped guls and half diamonds have latch hook edges and the colors red, burgundy, blue, and white, with the white really standing out. These vibrant lively rugs were made with good wool and good workmanship. Could be used in a bedroom suite or for an entryway/hallway. Yagcibedir carpets produced in the northwest mountain villages of the Aegean region in Turkey known to be very durable with a dense weave and very good quality Turkish wool coming from sheep grazing at a high altitude. 300
