1159 Click for larger picture APPROX 25-50 YR OLD TURKISH HEREKE HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 7'8'' X 12'2'': This Hereke is a beautifully designed and colored example of a room size rug from this area. There are three diamond shaped medallions going across the center of the field and three elongated medallions at either end of the field. These motifs all have the same colors (pale blue, rust, white, black, and beige) and design that link them. In between these medallions are swirling, art nouveau style vines, leaves, and flowers with birds almost hidden in the midst of them. The rust colored main border frames the dark blue field and helps to complete the design.

They are colored one blue, one orange and one a pale yellow/green. The simplicity of the design is appealing. The extra shield motif borders at each end are a very old design element.

1193 Click for larger picture APPROX 25-50 YR OLD PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 4'10'' x 9'2'': This village or tribal rug has red and medium blue diamond shaped medallion with spandrels on a black ground diamond shaped inner field. The center stands out because it is then framed by a white field. The stylized stems with flowers on the field are done in the same reds and blues as the inner medallion. Likewise, the red and blue guard and main borders. This rug has a very archaic tribal feel which oddly enough goes with modern decor.
CONDITION: There is some wear and surface dirt, but overall look is good.
