1282 Click for larger picture 'LA PORTA DEL PARADISO'' REPRODUCTION BY GHIBERTI: The original La Porta Del Paradiso are installed in the Florentine Baptistery and originally created by Lorenzo Ghiberti in bronze. This door is a reproduction and features 12 bronze bas relief panels which tell a story from the Creation of the Progenitors to the union of Solomon and the Queen of Sheba. When you open the door there is a dedication plaque which translated means ''of this work only 500 copies were made, numbered from 1 to 500. Number one was offered as a gift to his holiness by the supreme pontiff John Paul II. this Work bears the n. 423ed and dedicated to Dr Barbara Weber Ray''. On the back of each door there is an English and Italian description of the panel to which it is attached. 32'' h x 23.75'' w x 2.5'' deep.
CONDITION: Some of the descriptions and the back of the panels are becoming loose. A 3.25'' piece of right front piece of the ledge is missing. Otherwise this piece shows normal wear and is in good/very good condition. If this item needs to be shipped, please call for weight and get a shipping cost estimate.
