1197 | FULL PANELED ''GEORGIAN ROOM'' W/ FIREPLACE MANTLE: The entire architectural elements of the chamber room with paneling from the decorative installation at the St Petersburg Museum of Fine Arts which encompassed a 550 sq ft area is included in this lot. There is no ceiling nor flooring included in this lot however much of the molding is present. The room is purportedly from the Bull Inn, Guild Hall, London and was once housed in the Schenley World headquarters as executive dining rooms in the Empire State Building NYC. This offering, ''The Georgian Room'' in its present state, has many elements which are probably 18th or 19th century, but it has been reconfigured at least twice, once for the Schenley Offices in NYC and once for the MFA. This required rearranging the panels, adding door openings, new windows, and adding modern elements. Also, we do not know if the room was originally painted, but it was painted with modern pigments while in the MFA. In addition, it has been cut down. The scenic overmantel painting measures 26.75'' h x 42'' shows overall craquelure, has possibly been relined and is illegibly signed lower right. It does not appear to be original to the ensemble. Thus, the Georgian room it is not an intact nor authentic historic interior. The fireplace shows signs of early pegged construction and the top measures 78.5'' wide, 62'' high and 8'' deep; bottom is 77'' wide, 53.5'' h and 8'' deep. It should not be considered an historic, intact interior, but instead a charming and evocative room. The room includes 30-35 panels the largest measuring 86'' h x 50'' w, 6 stained glass windows, 4 of the windows measure 19.5'' h x 52'' w, the remaining two measure 39'' h x 32'' w, the cement fireplace measures 52'' h x 64.5'' w, and the carving over the mantle measures 41'' h x 86.5'' w.
