Aaron Douglas was considered by many to be the father of Black American art, as well as a major artist involved in the Harlem Renaissance. Douglas became the first president of the Harlem Artists Guild, which helped to get African-American artists the necessary acceptance into the arts project under the U.S. Government's Works Progress Administration(WPA).	2100
