BEATO, Antonio, (English/Italian, 1832-1906): Collection of 5 Albumen photos signed by A. Beato to include Temple of Luxor, Temple of Karnak, Sphinx and Pyramid of Cheops, Colassi of Memnon, Wall with Pharaoh and Hieroglyphics at Luxor. Each photo sight size approx. 14 1/2'' x 10 1/2'' with variance between photo's. All affixed to cards, larges card 12'' x 16''. Also sold with lot is 2 albumen photo's attributed to Beato, unsigned, one of the Avenue of Krio Sphinxes, other of a expedition party in front of a pyramid. These pieces were acquired in a 1901 expedition to the Mid East that lasted 111 days. CONDITION: Note fading, several have spots, expedition photo has tear and tape damage. |
