HERRING SR, John F., after, (British, 1795-1865): ''Pharaoh's Horses'', Oil/Canvas, 30'' x 28 1/4'', painting signed Florence Stuttler and dated 1887, a circular composition of three white, charging Arabian horses, is based on an 1848 painting by British sporting and animal painter John Fredrick Herring Sr., encased in a carved and gilded frame 35 1/2'' x 33 3/4''. The original ''Pharaoh's Horses'', one of Herring's most popular images, auctioned at Christie's in London for $445,500 in 1986. CONDITION: Scattered craquelure throughout with stretcher bar wear, several areas of touch up inpaint, good overall. |
