APPROX 75-100 YR OLD PERSIAN KERMAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 7'8'' x 11'7'': This lovely old Kerman has been woven in a traditional design that is seen in the more desirable rugs from this weaving center and it is even more interesting because of the colors used in the design. Starting from the outside of the rug there is a pale green, red and white guard borders, a white main border and then a pistachio green and blue guard border. These are ''broken borders'' whose designs flow into the next border or field. On the red colored field is a central medallion in pale pink, green, blue, and red with green spandrels at either end. A wreath of flowers surrounds the medallion and from the end and sides more flowers come into the field so there is little open space. CONDITION: There is an old repair at one end of the field and there is wear consistent with its age, but this is still a very good rug. |
