9 PC STERLING GENTLEMANS HABERDASHERY SET BY PORTER BLANCHARD AND ALLAN ADLER FOR RICHARD WALLACE: A 9 Pc sterling horse head motif Haberdashery Set comprising Nail File, Bottle Opener, Long Handled Shoehorn, Letter Opener, Hairbrush, Comb, and Clothing Brush. Sold with a Sterling Horse head Chalice and Underplate made by Allan Adler, Porter Blanchard's son-in-law. This monogrammed set was made especially for film director Richard Wallace who not only was a founding member of the Directors Guild of America but also known for memorable films including three Shirley Temple films, A Night to Remember (1943) with Loretta Young, and The Little Minister (1934) with Katharine Hepburn. Porter George Blanchard (1886-1973) was an American silversmith living and working in Pacoima, California. He is considered to be part of the Arts and Crafts Movement. Allan Adler (1886 - 2002, Porter Blanchard's son-in-law was known as the ''Silversmith to the Stars'' and designed silverware and holloware for Frank Sinatra, Errol Flynn, Mini-Oscars for the Academy Awards and crowns for the Miss Universe and Miss USA Crowns. | 800 |
