They were all students of the same mentor, one Maestro Fernando Alvarez de Sotomayor(1875-1960), a Spaniard imported to Chile by its government to lead the program at the Escuela de Bellas Artes de Chile. Each developed their own specialty, with Alberto Lobos favoring the wonderful landscapes of Chile. The works of Alberto Lobos (and his brothers) hang in virtually every major museum and private collection in Chile. The Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes owns works by all three.
