SEMI-ANTIQUE PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 10'2'' X 12'1'': This beautiful N.W. Persian rug is a real example of art underfoot ! The curvilinear design is of a central medallion that is actually a medallion within a medallion within a medallion. The color of the ground changes from a brighter red, to a white, to a blue all surrounded by a different red field ground. The corners of the field have a blue ground and the whole of the field is filled with designs of flowerheads and vines using the same colors as those found in the medallion. The main border of the rug has a pattern of large flowerheads (or small medallions) and is itself bordered by a guard border on each side. This is a gorgeous vibrant representation of the best of the weaver's art. Condition is very good. | 450 |
