Detailed backsplash with illumated nitch, and 2 drawers, carved figural maidens decoration. Base again with exquisite detail in inlay and carved decoration, single door with large lock opens to reveal 2 shelves. In the inlay are owners initial E.P. This cabinet was reputedly used in a silent movie in the 1920's in Germany, unfortunately it is not known which movie. 85'' h. x 56 1/2'' x 27 1/4''. TURKISH HEREKE HAND KNOTTED SILK PRAYER RUG, 2' x 3': This extremely finely woven silk rug has a soft palette of beiges and blues with a delicate tracery pattern that flows from the base of the prayer niche to the top of the field. The top of the niche or mihrab is outlined by ribbon like lines in shades of blue. There are many other colors of silk that are beautifully blended and placed to create a beautiful pattern. The deep blue field of the border frames the field of the rug and the edge border has an embossed look due to the main design motifs being the only knotted part of this border. TURKISH HEREKE HAND KNOTTED SILK PRAYER RUG, 2' 6'' x 4': This beautiful silk rug is extremely finely woven with an equally beautiful design motif of a vase of flowers that starts at the foot of the prayer niche. There are many types of flowers radiating out from the vase and the stems that spread out over the whole field. The top of the niche or mihrab has a different color ground to define and give direction to the rug. The many colors of silk are expertly used to create the illusion that even more colors have been employed. The dark color of the main border further frames the rug and the edge border has an unusual feature where only the design motifs are knotted creating an embossed look.
