Mahogany case with shaped front door, turned columns, on 4 carved legs. Painted dial with vignettes of lighthouses and battlements, rocking ship movement at top. Dial signed W. H. 1020 | APPROX 75-100 YR OLD TURKISH OUSHAK HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 11' X 12'6'': This lovely example of an Oushak rug has all the bells and whistles that you could ask for. The central medallion has a diamond shaped center done in colors that include pistachio green, salmon pink, peach, cranberry red, and a pale orange. It rests on a green/gold colored field that has salmon pink corners. These corners meld into the wide salmon colored main border despite the pale orange and pistachio green guard borders. This rug has a beautiful overall look that makes good Oushaks so desirable. CONDITION: The rug has areas in the field that have been rewoven and the sides have been redone (by hand). |
