His paintings of planes date from the early 1900's and include aircraft from World War 1. Mr. Hubbell began work with the former Thompson Products in 1934 when Fred C. Crawford, board chairman, hired him with a handshake to paint the winning plane each year in the famous Thompson Trophy Race. In 1939, Mr. Hubbell's first six pictures were used for a calendar and a similar calendar has been offered annually since. Here at Auction is a fine representation of his work. Provenance: From the estate of the former Vice President of Thompson Products Inc. CONDITION: All Calendars complete with 12 months, some lightly used, 1 with drawings and doodling.
