DORTSCH, Claire V., (American, 20th C.): Woman in Red, O/B, 15'' x 11 1/2'', signed, gold frame, 23'' x 28''. Claire V. Dorst, Painter-Educator, was born in Plymouth, Wisconsin 1922. His schooling in art began at Beloit College, where he received his BA in 1949. He received his MA degree at University of Iowa, 1953, and his MFA at University of Wisconsin-Madison, 1963. Dorst began teaching art in 1953 in various State colleges in Iowa, then was professor at Florida Atlantic University from 1964 to 1968. He was also chairman of the art department at FAU 1968.
