1153 Click for larger picture APPROX. 20-35 YR OLD PERSIAN OR INDO-PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 5'1'' X 7'1'': This finely knotted rug also has a finely executed pattern. The pale blue, beige, and ivory star or snowflake shaped small central medallion rests on a red field. The rest of the field is covered with various size flower heads and palmettes in the same colors as the medallion. The corners, guard and main borders are pale blue and yellow.
CONDITION: Condition: There is an abrash or color change in the red field, otherwise good.

No labels or maker's markings. Table 30'' h. x 71 1/4'' x 20'', stools 15'' h. x 20'' x 16 3/4''. A capiz shell is the protective shell of a type of mollusk that is primarily used for decorative items such as window panes, lighting fixtures and kitchen utensils. Also known as windowpane oysters, these species of mollusk abound in Southeast Asia particularly in the Philippines, which is one of the world's largest producer and exporter of capiz shells. Its name, ''capiz,'' was actually named after a province in the Visayas region of the Philippines where there is a large concentration of the mollusk. Wiki.
CONDITION: Minor stains to cushions, other wear consistent with age and use.

As a child, Young's mother gave him illustrated books with works of the Old Masters and this may have inspired his interest in art. He studied printmaking at Ringling School of Arts in Sarasota and then began working in watercolors. His work has been compared to Winslow Homer and Andrew Wyeth. Young may be the youngest living artist to have a watercolor sell at Christie's. 750

1190A Click for larger picture APPROX. 20-45 YR OLD PERSIAN OR INDO-PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL OR WOOL AND SILK RUG, 2'4'' X 3'9'': This very finely knotted rug has a signature cartouche and a very unusual design with two large joined circles outlined by a dark blue double border with white and pink ''buds'' in between. The centers of each circle have the same design and colors in smaller circles. Pale green leaves and vines have salmon and green flowers twining around the ivory circles. The salmon color field and main border are outlined by pale green and ivory guard borders.
CONDITION: Condition: Good for its age.
