FOUJITA, Leonard Tsuguharu, (Japanese, 1886-1968): Nativity Scene with Mary and Infant Christ in the Manger, size with margins 10.625'' x 8.25'', signed in pen lower right and numbered lower left 21/197, unframed. The second etching is the same except it is not signed. Foujita was a French-Japanese artist and spent most of his career in Paris. He associated with artists like Picasso, Braque and Rousseau. As a youth studying art at the Imperial School of Fine Art in Japan, the Japanese Emperor acquired one of his paintings. In 1917 he had his first exhibition in Paris and within several years was exhibiting at the Fauves Salon d'Automne. Provenance: Estate of Yves Georges Prade.
