INGERLE, Rudolph F., (American, 1879-1950): Pastoral Wood, Oil/Canvasboard, sight size 9.5'' x 13.5'', signed lower left, encased in original carved and gilded impressionist frame, 14.25'' x 18.5''. Ingerle studied at the Art Institute and traveled extensively to find landscapes that appealed to him including the Ozark and Smoky Mountains; he became known as the ''painter of the Smokies''. Ingerle allied himself with T. C. Steele and others to form the Indiana School of painting in Brown County, and then joined the Ozark School which developed shortly thereafter. He exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Carnegie Institute and other galleries and museums. CONDITION: Not examined out of frame, under glass, sold as is. |
