Overall shade measures 7 1/2'' h. x 19''. Sold with a married patinated metal base, triple socket fixture, 24 1/2'' h. x 8'' base dia.
CONDITION: Multiple panels with cracks.

1052 Click for larger picture APPROX. 15-25 YR OLD TURKISH HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 8'1'' x 9'9'': This rug has an overall design of large flowers or palmettes placed around the field singly or in groups linked by burgundy and ivory colored vines. The aqua, yellow, burgundy, and ivory flowers rest on an aqua field. The rug looks like it was tea-stained to enhance its appearance. Condition is good. 500

Original Pace Gallery label affixed verso. Fine silver gilt framing, 31.25'' x 15.75''. Full size of print with margins 26'' x 12.5''. Dubuffet started painting and then gave up because he felt as though he was imitating his contemporaries. Before WWII, he began painting again, rejecting Europe's art traditions as he became the leader of the Art Brut movement. This movement believed that worthwhile art had to be spontaneous and the most spontaneous were children and mental patients; he believed art had much to do with madness.
CONDITION: Hinge mounted with tape, overall browning, margins exhibit sporadic staining, glue remnants, several areas of minimum paper loss due to former extraction of print from original mounting. Not laid, sold as is.

Frame shows minor wear. Sold as is.

Yoshida was a leader in the new print movement (shin hanga) and was the only one to sign and title his work in English. He worked as a painter until his 40s when he became interested in woodblocks. He worked with Watanabe for a few years and became very involved in the printing process. Eventually he started his own print shop. Yoshida was an avid mountain climber and became known for his Alpine scenes.
CONDITION: Overall pale browning, tape stains in corners, overall even fading, upper right corner has been folded, sold as is.

1075 Click for larger picture APPROX. 20-35 YR OLD PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 7'3'' x 10'7'': This pretty rug has the look of an old Bijar although it doesn't have the same tight construction. Its fine design includes a round central medallion with a darker center and larger leaves radiating out like spires. The corners of the field are like sections of the center medallion. The rest of the red/orange field has the same larger leaves linked together by vines. The blue ground main border with its light blue guard borders complete the rug.
CONDITION: There is some color run and slight stains in the border, but otherwise good condition.

The console is surmounted by a framed 12 panel mirror scroll carved with draperies, swags and floral basketries. Mirror measures 64''h. x 52.5''w. x 2.5''d, table measures 33''h. approx. including marble, 54'' x 20.5''. Overall approx. 8'h.
CONDITION: Several professional repairs to marble.

Miro studied at the Barcelona Ecole des Beaux-Arts and the Academie Gali and eventually moved to Paris. There he became friends with Picasso, Hemingway, Klee and Ernst and was accepted as a Surrealist. In his 70's he produced bronze and in his 80's he worked with Royo who created tapestries. Miro transformed them from appreciated folk art to masterpieces by applying different materials and techniques.
CONDITION: Mounted on back board with white tape, visible handling creases in several margins as well as staining from tape glue in right margin, several pale spots of foxing, sold as is.

1089 Click for larger picture APPROX. 50-65 YR OLD INDO-AUBUSSON HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 12'1'' x 15'3'': This large room size rug has a traditional French Aubusson design with a pale blue, pink, and yellow oval central medallion on an ivory field. There is an inner border, using the same colors, of small flowers edged by green corners that have crossed yellow horns or scepters. A blue scrolling design makes up the main border. All of the design elements of the rug are sculpted to bring them out. There is a cute elephant found on one end of this rug that is the logo (brand symbol) for the company that made this rug. Condition is good. Matching slightly smaller rug at lot 1093. 400

1093 Click for larger picture APPROX. 50-65 YR OLD INDO-AUBUSSON HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 9'1'' x 12'3'': This rug is a mate to another larger rug in this auction, lot 1089. It's traditional French Aubusson design includes a pale blue, pink, and yellow oval central medallion on an ivory field there is an inner border of small flowers in the same colors with four green corners. A blue scrolling design makes up the design of the main border. The rug's motifs are sculpted for emphasis. A cute elephant which is a company logo (brand symbol) is found on one end of the rug.
CONDITION: There are some slight stains and soil but mostly good condition.

1094 Click for larger picture GIACOMETTI, Alberto, (Swiss, 1901-66): ''Studio II'' 1954, Lithograph, 19.75'' x 25.75'' with margins, pencil signed lower right, numbered 8/30 lower left, on Arches wove paper, watermark in lower mid margin, deckled edges on both sides, unframed. Alberto is the son of Giovanni Giacometti, an impressionist painter. As a youth, his family members were the subjects of his works. He studied in Geneva, Italy and ended his formal studies in Paris as a student of Rodin. Late nights, even after his marriage, he often frequented cafes where prostitutes became his models.
CONDITION: Several minor handling creases, some staining in margins, several scattered pencil marks from framing, tape remnants verso, sold as is.

CONDITION: #2 with missing piece of trim lower right, scratches to top left side. #3 with candle wax remnants, scratches and abrasions. Set in need of cosmetic fixes.
