ANTIQUE AFRICAN CARVED WOODEN LIDDED MEDICINE BOWL: From the Senufo Tribe / Ivory Coast, this rare medicine pot was found in the Korhogo area in 1969. It was carved by Yeo Dramane - famous sculptor of the ''Poro'' in the 1940s. Unusual pot features an elephant base carrying a large, decorated pot with mythical creatures and personages from the Senufo cosmogony. The lid features 2 Kpelie protector masks and a Wambele mask. Measures approx 48'' h x 22'' w. Circa 1940. CONDITION: Some losses to elephant foot. |
