106 Click for larger picture TURKISH OUSHAK HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 6' x 9': This attractive Turkish rug has a greenish-brown field covered with light colored palmettes that are connected by vines that also are ivory, peach-red, pale green, and yellow. The main border has the peach-red ground also with palmettes and vines. The rug has a soft sheen that is due to a finishing wash that makes the colors very harmonious. This rug would look good with many different styles of furnishing. Condition is good. 400

118A Click for larger picture SEMI-ANTIQUE INDO-PERSIAN HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 6'1'' x 9'2'': This rug has a Traditional Persian design found in Serab or Seraband rugs. The midnight blue field is covered with rows of small botehs, or paisleys. The direction of the botehs changes with each row. The multiple borders, especially the main border also have botehs in a running design that is very typical of Serab rugs. The busy pattern of this rug makes it very practical as well as attractive for use in areas that may receive high traffic or use. Condition is good. 350

Giavis was a member of the Society of Illustrators. His two page parade scene for Goodyear advertising which appeared in a 1960 issue of the Saturday Evening Post received international acclaim and was recognized 37 years later when Dr. Chris Mullen of the international University of Brighton School of Arts and Communication, compiled a list of the top 12 American realist illustrators. Most prominent on the list includes Norman Rockwell, Robert Riggs, Steve Dohanos, & Lymon Anderson. 600
