1487 Click for larger picture CALDWELL, Erskine, (American, 1903-1987): 4 piece collection to include 1) Scarce original Drawing in black on his printed letterhead of several horizontal lines, each of which is filled with little, cute figures of men resting on the lines as if birds perching, very realistic. Matted and framed. 6'' x 6 1/2'', framed 9 3/4'' x 11 3/4''. 2) Original Drawing in black marker, one of his typical cartoon figures. The eye is in the center of a round, smiling face that serves also as the torso, with arms and legs springing out. Signed, matted and framed. Sight size 6'' x 8 1/2'', framed 9 1/2'' x 12 1/4''. 3) Limited edition print 1/50 of Caldwell by his artist wife, Virginia, in celebration of his 80th birthday. On stiff cotton text, signed by artist and subject. Matted and framed. Produced by Parchment Gallery Graphics. Sight size 11 1/4'' x 8 1/2'', framed 17 1/2'' x 15''. 4) Unsigned copy of a 1934 Playbill featuring Tobacco Road, at the Forrest Theater, New York, one of the longest running plays in Broadway history with 3,182 consecutive showings.
