1167 Click for larger picture HAIR, Alfred, (American, 1941-1970): Florida Highwaymen River Scene, painted as a commissioned work in a grouping of only 70-90 pieces by Alfred Hair but signed Freddy. Historical accounts vary as to how and why this body of work was created, but some say it was Albert Backus himself, mentor of Alfred Hair and Harold Newton, who suggested the name change for reasons that continue to be in question. As per consignor, Peter created the original painting in art school and gave it to the consignor. Years later, Peter asked for it back, and created the embellished work on canvas.
