Historical accounts vary as to how and why this body of work was created, but some say it was Albert Backus himself, mentor of Alfred Hair and Harold Newton, who suggested the name change for reasons that continue to be in question. As per consignor, Peter created the original painting in art school and gave it to the consignor. Years later, Peter asked for it back, and created the embellished work on canvas.
