CONDITION: Scroll left side has removed, we have the scroll, but another piece missing. Veneer to door bubbling, currently running however not guaranteed to continue. Key in office.

1474 Click for larger picture GROUP OF 3 GONE WITH THE WIND LAMPS: An assembled collection of 3 electrified lamps, one with painted grape vine motif, one with painted floral motif and the last with molded grape vine on frosted glass. All 3 with glass chimneys. Tallest measures approx. 29 1/2'' h. x 9'' dia.
CONDITION: Wear and rubs to green lamp, the pink lamp does have a chip on the upper rim. Fonts have been drilled.

1476 Click for larger picture VIRGIL THOMSON AUTOGRAPHS LETTERS POSTER MEMORABILIA LOT: Included in this lot: 1) Autographed Poster ''The Mother of Us All'' a production in celebration of Thompson's 75th birthday, at St. Peter's Church in NYC, 1967, 11x17, folded horizontally, clean copy, on verso list of characters, more illustrations, and a synopsis of each act; 2) Hand-written bar by Virgil Thompson with signature from the score: Four Saints in Three Acts (on verso of a lined letter (8.5x11) in which one is requested); 3) Typewritten signed letter on New York Herald Tribune letterhead to Mr. Thompson giving Mr. Thompson the address for Alice Tolkas; 4) Two signed quotes from various works by Thompson, each typed at the top of the page on a pale yellow sheet (8.5x11), each about 13 lines; the quotes are from ''American Music Since 1970'': the subjects are Aaron Copland and John Cage. Virgil Thompson (November 25, 1896 - September 30, 1989) was an American composer and critic and was instrumental in the development of the ''American Sound'' in classical music. In the 1930s, he worked as a theater and film composer. His most famous works for theater are two operas with libretti by Gertrude Stein, Four Saints in Three Acts, especially famous for its use of an all-black cast, and The Mother of Us All, both of which he wrote the musical score. Sold along with pictures taken of Updike by Bill Plumley (at the Tennessee Williams Home?). John Hoyer Updike (March 18, 1932 - January 27, 2009) was an American novelist, poet, short story writer, art critic, and literary critic. Updike is one of only three authors (the others were Booth Tarkington and William Faulkner) to win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction more than once. He published more than twenty novels and more than a dozen short story collections, as well as poetry, art criticism, literary criticism and children's books. Andre Mauris was born Emile Salomon Wilhelm Herzog, (July 26,1885 - October 9,1967) was a French author and man of letters. ''Andre Maurois'' was a pen name that became his legal name in 1947. Matted and framed. 6'' x 6 1/2'', framed 9 3/4'' x 11 3/4''. 2) Original Drawing in black marker, one of his typical cartoon figures. The eye is in the center of a round, smiling face that serves also as the torso, with arms and legs springing out. Signed, matted and framed.
