Nieman's brilliantly colored, impressionistic sketches of sporting events has made him one of the most popular artists in the United States. His body of work is rooted in fine art. He became friends with Hugh Hefner of PlayBoy fame and his art appeared in that magazine many times. KASIMIR, Luigi, (Austria/Slovenia, 1881-1962): ''Giant Redwoods'', 3 Figures in a Redwood Forest, Etching / Aquatint, 13.75'' x 10.25'', 18.5'' x 14.25 with full margins, pencil signed lower margin, framed, 20'' x 16.5''. Kasimir was a pioneer in the colored etching technique starting with a sketch with a sketch, usually in pastel. Next he transferred the design on as many as four to six plates which he printed one after the other and applied the color on the plates.
