Red, blue, pink, and white vases come out of the band with their flowers resting on the red field. The lavender field rug has only a band of pale lavender to signify the border of the field. Covering a great deal of the field in an asymmetrical layout are many types of fantastically colored flowers and leaves. ART DECO ERA NICHOLS CHINESE HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 8'9'' x 11'5'': This rug is another great example of Art Deco (1920's-1930's) design and coloring. The soft grey field is edged by pale lavender and bright turquoise borders. From vases in the border or partly in the field run vine like branches that have a variety of fantastically colored flowers and leaves. The design runs in and out of the field onto the borders. One lone butterfly flits across the field. CONDITION: There are some white knots in the field due to wear and some slight stains but this is still a good looking rug. |
