Both Warhol and his mother had a passion for cats and they were all named Sam except for one called Hester. 25 Cats Name Sam and One Blue Pussy is a privately printed, limited edition Andy Warhol book. The book actually contains 16 cats named Sam followed by one cat in blue titled One Blue Pussy.
CONDITION: Paper exhibits some toning, several pale spots of foxing, not examined out of frame, sold as is.

1160 Click for larger picture REBAY, Hilla, (German, 1890-1967): Modernist constructivist composition, Watercolor and Pencil, 13.25'' x 11'', signed lower right, dated '47, ''To My Friend Xeeron'', framed, 21'' x 17.5''. Baroness Hilla von Rebay was a noted abstract artist and co-founder of the Guggenheim Museum. She advised Solomon Guggenheim on his art purchases which became the basis for the self named museum.
CONDITION: Hinge mounted, some handling creases in lower margin, several small spots of foxing and some minor loss to lower right corner, sold as is.

1161 Click for larger picture APPROX. 20-35 YR OLD AFGHAN BOKHARA HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 5'8'' x 8'5'': This very masculine looking rug has a traditional design and colors. Six rows of three large ''elephant foot'' shaped ''guls'' alternate with rows of smaller diamond shaped ''guls''. The guls are done in shades of red and black on a red field surrounded by borders that are mostly black with some red.
CONDITION: Could use a cleaning but otherwise good condition.

1164 Click for larger picture APPROX. 20-45 YR OLD PERSIAN SHIRAZ HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUNNER, 3'9'' x 10'2'': This wide runner or corridor rug has a red/orange field with six diamond shaped linked medallions that are outlined in white. Each medallion has four chickens outlined in white or orange on a dark blue/black ground. Other chickens, flowers, and random motifs are scattered over the field. A white ground main border and running dog guard borders complete the design of the rug.
CONDITION: The sides and ends have been redone and there is some color run.

The 2 opals total 2.25 Ct, and have an orange body color with blue/green play of color. The 16 diamonds total 1.25 Ct and are rated VS in clarity and H-I in color. Total weight is 10.9 grams. The main part of the field is a deep blue that is covered with small red botehs or paisleys. Six small guard borders complete the rug. Probably a Seraband area rug. Condition is good, consistent with age. 300

The contrast between the softer colors of the medallion, the corners and the borders with the strong, solid blue of the field gives this rugs dramatic look. Condition is good. 1100
