Meiji or Taisho period, marked on base with Hodota / Hododa markings and Made in Nippon label. Overall with lid 16 3/4'' h. x 12 1/2''. Sold with a carved and pierced wood base, 3'' h. x 11 1/4''.

Bonnet with broken arch pediment, brass rosettes and eagle on ball center finial, fluted columns. Shaped door, body with inlay, stepped base with shaped skirt. Painted metal dial with floral corners and top, Roman and Arabic numerals, time and strike movement, crude pendulum. Approx. 90 1/2'' h. x 20 1/4'' x 9 1/4''.
CONDITION: Missing weight, in need of restoration, sold as-is.

1107 Click for larger picture APPROX. 24-45 YR OLD CHINESE DRAGON HAND KNOTTED WOOL RUG, 5'7'' x 8'3'': This attractive rug has a rust orange field with two blue dragons found at each end of the field just above the waves. The waves are expressed in colored stripes that are shades of green, ivory, pale pinks, greens, and blues. They crash in ivory foam on the orange field. The rest of the field is open except for some ivory brackets and some small Chinese symbols. Condition is good. 350

CONDITION: General condition is good, appearance would improve with a good cleaning.

The outstanding feature of this rug is the multitude of birds and animals that cover the medallions and the field.
